The Secrets of Soapwriting, Clissold Park Pupil Referral Unit 1/4
10:00am Thursday March 1st, 2012
This term, young writers from Clissold Park School will take part in a 4-week series of soap opera writing workshops in school and at the Ministry. We’ll encourage the writers to explore how the nature of characters in a soap drive the plot-lines and how plot-lines develop into a long-running series. The sessions will culminate in the completion of a collaborative final script which will be presented at the Ministry.
To mentor for this project, you may need to bring something extra alongside your regular mentoring skills. You will be working with up to 12 young writers, currently excluded from mainstream school, who are exploring scriptwriting as part of their work this term. It promises to be a rewarding and challenging experience: have you got what it takes?
We invite you to attend a special session to help you to prepare for this workshop. This will take place on Monday 27th February 4.30-5.30. Please email lorna@ministryofstories.org to confirm your attendance.
And finally – remember – this is just one session in a series of four. If you want to help these young people move from first draft to final, sign up for the other workshops in the series if you can.
Please note that the first and last sessions of this workshop will take place at the Ministry. The second and third will take place at Clissold Park, Clissold Road, N16 9EX.
