The World in One Street

January 30, 2012

Your attention, please!   This year sees a world of possibility open up at the Ministry of Stories.  Oh yes, indeed.

If you could see your high street or neighbourhood through the eyes of young people who lived there, what would it be like? What worlds, real or imaginary, would come to life through their writing?

The World in One Street is the theme for all our work in 2012. The local children who come to the Ministry of Stories are connected to a huge number of other places in the world – from Turkey to Vietnam, Sierra Leone to Columbia. The worlds they imagine stretch even further out into the universe and back or forward in time.

We’re planning an ambitious programme of projects for 2012, including a soap opera about Hoxton Street written by teenagers, an adventure tourism agency where you can take a tour of the area led by young people and a regular local newspaper.

If this sounds like it could be up your street, why not get involved? We are looking for volunteers and supporters to help with everything from design to production of our tourist agency and festival, and helping our young writers’ ideas go from fledgling to fully formed.
