Shattered Dreams

Author: Year 6 - Tyssen Primary School

Illustrator: Oonagh Murphy-Jack

Once upon a time there was a miniscule vegetarian fairy called Plum. Her greatest fear was meat. Plum was a very intelligent young fairy. She was sweet and kind and didn’t make mistakes that often. She was never badly behaved. Unlike her brother Ricky. Ricky the monster was the opposite of good. He was the rudest and the most immature creature in the land.

Ricky was always trying to ruin Plum’s greatest dream which was to win Fairy of the Year Competition. He was jealous. He was always being bad and smashing his mother’s favourite pots and framing Plum. He plotted to kill her pet kitten and leave it underneath her pillow. As he tried to kill the kitten, Plum came and saved the day by grabbing the kitten from him.

Having saved her kitten, she could focus on her dream. She rehearsed her flying and dancing until she finally got it perfect.

The night before her performance she broke her leg. Ricky made her a salad which he had slyly slipped some raw meat into. When Plum realised she jumped up and fell off the chair and fractured her ankle…
