Writers in Residence

With the creation of the Children’s Republic of Shoreditch, the Ministry of Stories has had the opportunity to work closely with several wonderful authors.

The Writers in Residence are an important part of the Embassy of the Republic, and they comprise their own department called the Writer’s Desk. This department is a place for children and visitors of the Embassy to make a special request, via airplane, no less!, express their creativity, and have the chance to write or illustrate by the side of a published writer.

Here’s a Flickr album which showcases some of the work done by the Writers in Residence we’ve had so far. Ross Montgomery helped compile a dictionary of made up words and wrote a short story, while Laura Dockrill took illustration requests while working with SANT. Have a look!

We would like to thank our Writers in Residence: Nick Hornby, Ross Montgomery, Sufiya Ahmed, Justin Somper, Andy Stanton, Laura Dockrill, Meg Rosoff and Joe Dunthorne. Their donated time and experience has been, and continues to be, brilliant.

Cheerio!
