Chapter Three: The corner of life

Posted by Miriam Nash on 11th February 2019

In the final chapter of Round About Candle Street, written for the 65th anniversary of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, we meet the ‘Buttercup Man’ waiting for his daughter to visit, a local Roadman who’s more than he seems, and the naughtiest baby on earth, who hopes one day to become a firefighter. We hear the banter of two brothers on the ‘Depression Bench’ and discover ‘the corner of life’. All the work was written and performed by students at Morpeth and Ben Jonson schools, in collaboration with BBC History.

To inspire other young writers, we created a resource pack for teachers and youth workers.
